SPIKE BARRIERS

Bidirectional spike barriers are utilized in areas where vehicles can approach from both directions and has to be utilized in conjunction with a triggering access control device. Units are modular & made up in 1 meter sections & there is no limit to the length of the spike barrier.
The spike barrier is available in single direction and bidirectional spike barriers. Single direction traffic flow spike barrier is designed to control traffic flow in one direction. Approaching the spike barrier from the correct side, the vehicle tyres will push the spikes down which will allow safe passage over the spike barrier & a counter-weight system will raise the spikes after the tyre has passed over them. Approaching the spike barrier from the wrong way, will puncture the tyres because the spikes are designed not to lower for vehicles approaching from the wrong side.

Surface Mount Spike Barrier

This surface mount single directional barrier is designed for use in high security vehicle control applications, were an ongoing security barrier is required. The application of the surface mount barrier is necessary on parking bay levels where the slab may not be penetrated due to potential structural damage. This makes it necessary to apply a barrier mounted to the surface.

Mounted above surface, yet low profile 10MM thick spikes are suitable for all vehicles. The bumper is engineered for long term reliability, fast on site maintenance and durability.

Flush Mount Spike Barrier

The Spike barrier is designed to handle high volumes of traffic and has a 100% duty cycle. The barrier and “Road Spike" are driven via two independent single-phase torque motors with an operating speed of one second for the "Road Spike" and 2.5 -6 seconds for the barrier arm. The spikes will only rise after the barrier has passed through a 30° on the closing cycle. The spike barrier is designed to offer protection in both directions on entry and exit. The compact design allows for the minimum of excavation work and simplifies the installation. The spike barrier can be configured in the following ways: boom arm stays down on power failure and spikes remain up; or boom arm opens on power failure and spike will lower on power failure.

Specifications

• The "Road Spike" barrier is available in either 3m or 5m options standard. Custom size units can be manufactured.
• Barrier boom arms are manufactured from aluminium tubing, powder coated in white with reflective tape.
• The barrier can be equipped with an anti pedestrian aluminium curtain suspended beneath the boom arm to prevent personal injury.

• The spikes lower before the boom arm opens. This ensures a safe passage for the vehicle to pass through.
• The boom arm can't open unless the spikes have lowered completely by means of an inter-lock.
• The spike barrier can be interfaced with single or multiple remote triggering devices.
• The spike barrier framework is designed to handle vehicles weighing up to 20 tons.
• The cabinet is an IP54 rated enclosure 1.6mm mild steel or 3CR12 stainless steel or 2mm 304 brushed stainless steel, and can be powder coated in any colour.
• The spikes protrude 90mm to 120mm above the road surface and offer protection from both directions.
• The "Road Spike" barrier's modular design allows the unit to be stripped down to small manageable sizes for easy transportation and installation.
• Mains supply: 220V at 130 watts with no traffic lights and 205 watts with traffic lights.
